Presenting Honda Young Engineers and Scientists Award

This is the annual award for outstanding students from engineering and technology universities nationwide in order to find and create favorable conditions for fostering young talents in the ecological technology, future leaders in engineering and technology field and promoting the development of Vietnam’s Science and Technology.

The award has been established with the cooperation of Honda Foundation (Japan), National Institute for S&T Policy and Strategy Studies (MOST), Honda Vietnam Company and 6 universities. This award has special meaning as a milestone for recognizing efforts in learning and scientific research and at the same time plays the role as a platform for the country’s young talents for their career development later.

After 9 years with Vietnam’s students, the Award has achieved proud results with 733 applications, 90 outstanding students who are honorably awarded in annual awarding ceremonies and 10 students who have received Y-E-S Plus Prize to study master or have on-the-job training in Japan. This year, the Award is presented to 10 outstanding students including 02 students from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, 05 students from Technology University – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, 02 students from University of Natural Science – Vietnam National University, Hanoi and 01 student from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. The total value of prizes is up to USD 30,000 and 10 motorbikes manufactured by Honda Vietnam Company will be presented to these 10 outstanding students. In addition, these students would have opportunities to receive Honda Y-E-S Plus prizes of USD 10,000 value if they study masters in Japan or of USD 7,000 if they are accepted and participate in on-the-job training in universitie, institutes or laboratories in Japan from 2.5 months to 1 year within 3 years as of receiving the Award.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Trần Việt Thanh said that with objectives to develop Ecological Technology for building an advanced Science and Technology branch in the future, through supporting talented engineers and scientists, the Award has contributed to illuminate dreams on carrying out scientific researches, contributing to the country’s development of talented young engineers and scientists. The award is the recognition of continuous efforts made by these students during their study and research in universities. Honda Y-E-S Award has become prestigious with practical prizes which support the study and research of Vietnam’s talented young engineers and scientists.
