08/07/2020 Daren Tang of Singapore Appointed as WIPO Director General

The member states of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on May 8, 2020, appointed by consensus Mr. Daren Tang as the Organization's next Director General, with Mr. Tang's six-year term beginning on October 1, 2020.

08/07/2020 Viet Nam attended the Heads of Intellectual Property Office Conference (HIPOC) for Countries in South Asia, Southeast Asia, Iran (Islamic Republic of) and Mongolia

At the Conference, the Intellectual Property Office of Viet Nam (IP Viet Nam) expressed compliments and appreciation for technical assistance provided by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to Viet Nam in formulating and submitting the National IP Strategy until 2030 for Prime Minister’s approval, and stated that several ministries and localities have promulgated their own Strategy’s Implementation Plan for 2020-2025 period.

06/08/2020 Mid-term Workshop about Vietnam-Korean Institute of Science and Technology Establishment Project

On June 4, 2020, a Mid-term Workshop about Vietnam-Korea Institute of Science and Technology Establishment Project was held by Vietnam-Korea Institute of Science and Technology (VKIST) in Hanoi, to evaluate the activities that have been implemented by VKIST since its establishment and report on research orientation in some VKIST’s main research fields. Attending the workshop, on Vietnam side, there were Mr. Bui The Duy, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Tran Viet Thanh, Former Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Senior Advisor of VKIST Institute; Mr. Kum Dongwha, President of VKIST Institute, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Bao Son, Deputy Director of Hanoi National University. Together with representatives of functional units of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Health; VKIST Council members; Scientists at Universities, Research Institutes, and Enterprises working in VKIST's main research fields.
