Deputy Minister Vũ Đức Đam delivered a speech in the Summit
Participating in the Summit were Deputy Minister of Vietnam’s Government Vũ Đức Đam, Japan’s Ex-Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Trần Việt Thanh, representative leaders of Ministries, branches at Central level, Ambassadors, representatives from Embassies of 35 countries, the Director of World Bank in Vietnam and representatives of many international organizations.
Delivering a speech at the Opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vũ Đức Đam highly appreciated the initiative of introducing the content of agriculture and rural development in the Forum. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Việt Nam has had many advantages in agricultural production. However, Vietnam’s current agriculture hasn’t currently linked much with technologies including information technology (IT). Through this Forum, advancements of using IT in agriculture would be precious lessons learnt so that Việt Nam can make use in order to develop the agriculture with green, clean and sustainable requirements in the context of arising new challenges.
“Việt Nam continues to identify that IT is the key factor which creates new development method; an important motivation for the country’s development and modernization, improving comprehensively the national competing capacity and successfully international integration; the fastest way for Việt Nam to overcome the middle income trap, enter the knowledge based economy, information society and move together with other countries”, Deputy Prime Minister affirmed.
The participants of the ForumAccording to the Organizing committee, the Forum attracted the participation of more than 700 representatives from 20 economies in Asia and Oceania. Most of the time, the participants focused on discussing about “hot” issues relating to new development methods in agriculture, public services and new business models for enterprises.
Vietnam - ASOCIO ICT Summit 2014 is the biggest international event in terms of IT in Asia and Oceania which is organized by Asia – Oceania Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) annually in turns of economics in the region. After 11 years, this is the 2nd time Việt Nam has obtained the right to organize this important event. This year the Forum took place in 4 days from October 28 to 31, 2014 in Hà Nội and Đà Nẵng.
